Sunday Short: Game Over

By Sarah Cate Anstey, May 28 2017 07:27AM

I always admired how you played for the enjoyment;

Your ability to lose gracefully, almost with glee.

Just happy to have someone to play with,

Even if they were better than you.

In the last game we played,

I laid my cards out.

You folded without hesitation.

I checked the hand you had discarded so willingly.

You’d gotten lucky, could have won it all.

I used to think you lacked strategy,

But you had a game plan all along.

I should have guessed,

Someone who could lose so willingly,

Would think nothing of losing me.
